Please pre-register for tryouts
Pre-registration is highly recommended for tryouts because it will save you
time and help us be ready for you at tryouts.
1a. Cool Electronic Pre-Registration Form
Each
applicant types in the form and clicks the print button at the top
of the form. Please bring that form and the 2 others in
step 3 below to tryout's with you. Most of you will also be
able to pre-register with the same form. Then email to
register@ChallengersSoccer.com will self generate when you hit the
"submit by email" button.
If you are having trouble here is a hint.
You will need the free
Adobe Reader
(7.0 or newer)
and email access to submit this form electronically.
If you do not have a recent
Free Adobe Reader
click a blue link.
We have more hints in the FAQ below.
If you are successful with step 1a you get a
gold star and can skip past step 1b below.
1b.
Web mail users and those who struggle with attachments. We feel your
pain!
So Harry made you a cool little
Simpler Shorter alternate Pre-Registration form as a plan B.
To pre-register with
this form all you need is a working web browser (and some basic literacy).
It will seem a little redundant but still very fast and simple.
Remember, If you were able to submit in step 1a above please skip
this step (1a) all together.
2. General Paperwork: The next group of
pages is pretty self explanatory but at first glance it may seam a
little redundant or random. We have 2 more paper forms you print
and sign. One is our club waiver for the tryout and the other is
a paper waiver and medical release from your larger soccer league.
The third sheet is due early summer but lets get this all out of the
way at once. For easy printing we grouped these forms as
Girls IWSL Waivers and Flyer or
Boys NISL Waivers and Flyer.
Please print and bring to tryouts the appropriate forms for your
player's gender.
Printing
Pages 3 and 4 of these packets, the tryout flyer and an FAQ sheet, is
optional. With the form from above #1 you should be bringing a total
of 3 completed paper forms to tryouts. You will sail through the
registration line get your player sticker and head to your players or
parent station (marked with a sign stuck out in the field at
Jefferson. There will be a short parents meeting at the tryout.
I look forward to meeting you there. Jim Ensign - (Challengers
Parent leader).
3. ID, Medical and Photo: There are no forms for this step. The league
requires that your team manager have a copy of the players birth
certificate and medical insurance card. Also your team manager
will need a digital color photo of the players head and shoulders for
their player card. This is best if emailed to your team manager. These are not
necessary for the tryout but will be requested by your team manager
with your initial payment.

Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ) about pre-registration.
1.
Does everybody that tries out make a team?
Many do make teams but we are limited by 2 factors. 1st we need parent
volunteers to lead each team. So consider helping us organize your
team. Most teams will hire a trainer so you do not need to be a soccer
expert to help out. 2nd. It takes 11-16 players to make up a
team. So if we have odd numbers like 7 or 19 players at an age group
tryout we have to options. A: Look for a few more players or B: cut a
few players. We know it is counter intuitive but actually the more
kids that tryout at an age level the better your chances of making a team.
So please pass the word and invite your friends to tryout.
2.
What software is best for completing the Cool form?
A web browser like Internet explorer 7 that automatically links to a
configured email client profile like Outlook Express or Outlook. Safari and
Apple Mail are also a good pair. Whatever your favorite software you
are using you will definitely need
Adobe Reader 7.0 or newer.
If you use web mail and you are bad with attachments maybe just print the
form and bring it to tryouts. Or see number 9 below.
3.
What is an "Office Use Tryout # ?
For pre-registration just leave that blank. Each player will get a 3
digit ID sticker # at the open tryout
4.
Why do you ask so many questions?
First, When we have your child we really need to be able to reach you and
hopefully we will be communicating all year in highly efficient ways.
Second, when a lot of kids apply this information helps the coaches remember
and discuss how your player best fits into which team. Third: the
league requires a lot of information and forms.
5.
What is "Date of tryout"?
Just list the dates you plan to come to tryout. This helps us match
your registration with the coaches tryout evaluations.
6. What is "generally describe conflicts"?
This is where you tell us schedule issues. For example if you can
never play Sundays then your team will need a lager roster. If your
son is committed to playing 70 baseball games a year and has mandatory
practices 6 times a week then that will effect his whole soccer team.
If your child plays Jr. High football after school then we might be able to
start practices after 5 pm. All this stuff helps you and your team
have a good fit.
7. What is "Next Yr. Age Div and Sex?"
Travel Soccer is divided into age levels like u8 girls or u19 boys.
If you can't figure that one out leave it blank. Next year is in the
column labeled 2010/2011 below.

8.
Will volunteering make a difference?
Yes, in 3 ways. Volunteer parents get more control over player's
schedule, budget and experience. Leaders make challengers teams
possible, so less volunteer leaders means less teams and less player spots.
Volunteering keeps our costs low. Other clubs require volunteering yet
charge much higher fees. Yes, if a kid is on the cusp but Mom will be
a team manager that helps a lot. Remember, current volunteers are
choosing the new players and hiring your trainers. We will tell you
more about the Challengers Club at the parent meeting at the beginning of
your tryout.
9 . I have a MAC and/or web mail. Can I fill out and submit the form?
Adobe loves MAC so YES! However you must install Adobe Reader 9
because the fill-in-form will not work with MAC's off brand .pdf reader
substitute. I tested the form with my daughters MacBook and the form
sent easily and automatically through Apple Mail. However, if you use
web mail and a MAC and do not really know how to save and send an attachment
then use this simple web form in 1b.
Simpler Shorter Pre-Registration form Meanwhile please still print
your completed "cool form" and bring it with you to tryouts.
10. I do not
know where to email the form.
That part was supposed to be automatic. However, if you checked your
sent items and think your form did not email automatically then email the
TryoutRegForm.xml file to:
register@ChallengersSoccer.com
11. Can
Challengers accept faxes?
A what?
O yeah, we remember those! Frankly we would rather take your
Simpler Shorter alternate Pre-Registration form as a plan B. but
you can fax to our email at
815-377-2380.
12. I do not
have a printer. Can I still print the form?
Probably not (unless you borrow a computer with printer). Just send a
note to
register@challengersSoccer.com with your contact info or form data and
then fill out a blank form at the table with a pencil at tryouts.
